In 2019, Aya received an amount of 30,000 CAD from the Canadian Local Initiatives to train over seventy women’s groups in the Northern Ghana and the Volta Region on our Gender Watch Ghana Project and a training project for selected news editors and journalists in Northern Ghana and Volta Region on gender responsive reportage in the Ghanaian Media.
In 2022, with support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH GIZ Ghana, under its Programme Support Scheme for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) conducted our latest research ‘The Study of the Potential of Women-Led MSMEs to take advantage of the AfCFTA’. Part of the research project, were stakeholder engagement events bringing together key women business leaders in critical sectors of our economy to deliberate on how women can be equipped to harness the benefits of the trade agreement. One key outcome was that, 56 percent of women-led MSMEs interviewed had no idea about the trade agreement.
